I've made a collage of frames from the HD video but I can't post it on the forum because of the good old 160k limit ...

FREE *smiles* is what comes to mind when I looked at the stages of this beautiful Monarch birth into this world.

The colours are breathtaking, furthur the contrast, and sharp, crisp lines with it's stunning attention to detail of the subject... very nice... thank you for sharing this beauty.. made my day.

You should thank the butterfly next time you'll see one, 'cause I haven't done anything but press the "record" button. ;P

A visitor I haven't seen for a while in my garden : a Dunnock.
Sorry for the quality of the shot but it was taken through my kitchen window and with high ISO (therefore noisy pic) ...

Went to the end of Estuary Rd this afternoon, trying to get some shots of Royal Spoonbills, and as a bonus I had an Arctic Skua chasing other birds, especially a White-Fronted Tern (which managed to escape).
The pictures aren't as great as they should 'cause clouds were coming in front of the sun and created a greyish background, but well ... it's still easy to identify the birds. ;)

The middle one is in breeding plumage (yellow patch on the chest and "crest" slightly visible behind the neck).

Just change the picture res...... that will make the image smaller but wont reduce the quality :)
Foggy made the upload limit quite high recently so that image must be huge!

I went up the Summit Road this morning for the sunrise at the entrance of the Lyttelton Harbour, and even if some clouds on the horizon spoiled my pleasure it was still pretty nice. <3
IMG_0824bis.JPG

And I've missed an interesting shot : a Silvereye standing on a branch of Flax right in front of the sunrise ! Unfortunately the bird moved and wasn't facing "properly" anymore when I took the picture. It then took off and I didn't get a second chance ... >_<
It all happened very quickly, but next time I'll get it ! ;)

Took a walk up Mt Grey yesterday, roughly 2.5-3 hours to the top from the Grey River picnic area.
Thats going up which leads you through wonderful Beech Forest of the Foothills and the smell of the rich fungi on the trees which the wasps love q- .
Nearer to the top the treeline becomes alpine with ugly spaniards and carex grasses, where it leads up an open but steepish ridgeline to the top.
This is the result from the top on a blue dome sky day.

Wow, what a fantastic day. The view is amazing.

Oh, by the way, as far as I know they are called a Trig Station, not a Survey Pole.

Thanks for sharing with us!
