Fairly cloudy morning here too. There was puddles about earlier this morn and Ricky's weather station was showing 1.4mm, so some unexpected showers overnight.

35C forecast for Alexandra today! Central Otago wine vintage should be good this year given the hot summer. Looks like a southerly changes races up the east of the country tomorrow with coastal drizzle. May see isolated heavy showers over the upper NI on Monday with the easterly surge.

Wellington mean sunshine is much higher than that at Levin - margin is over 200 hours.

Only going by what my Davis VP2 is telling me....says DP is 14 currently, been as low as 12.3 or so. I'm not disbelieving it as it doesn't feel humid to me...

Bit of TCu floating around the place, noted in the the ATIS at the airport too.
Might get a shower out of it this arvo, pretty much carbon copy of yesterday.

Actually, this is quite strange isn't it...here's my graph of temp/DP today:

temp+dp.png

But Auckland Airport indeed had DP's 16-19 today http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/NZAA.html
My DP is 17-18 again now...

Can anyone explain this difference?

We may get some deep instability over the Auckland region today if there is plenty of surface heating. Should sea a sea breeze front develop which may push up a cb or two. The high cloud coming up from the south is a big negative though and may spoil the potential.

Some Relief on the way for the West Coast of the South Island. I know from relations that their Water Tank is near empty in Westport, couple of systems should bring some welcome rain to the area. Lovely afternoon here after the usual morning cloud cleared. No rainfall since Jan 23rd here. Looks like a rapidly deepening low passing over central NZ after the weekend early next week, should be short lived but could pack a punch.

Im now a proud owner of a canon 50d i picked up cheaply on trademe. cant wait to pick it up on sunday and even better i cant wait to take it to USA in april.

it was such i nice day today.. not once did i feel uncomfortable about the heat. 1st day in a long time i have not felt HOT!

Im heading up the Tutukaka coast this weekend (havnt been there since i was about 13) so it will be nice to see the place again but also see how dry the north is. as DT has said in off topic yet another fire up there today. not good news at all.
